A proper old-school Welsh pub within walking distance of Manorbier beach, this is the kind of place you can arrive at windswept and slightly damp and still feel welcome. The beer garden has been smartened up in recent years and gives children somewhere to be noisy while you sit with a drink, and there's free parking, high chairs and a kids' menu inside. Portions are generous — the flatbreads (the Korean chicken one especially), the burger and the parmesan chips get the most praise, and there are proper vegan dishes rather than an afterthought, with the vegan chilli a favourite. Two honest notes: it gets busy even midweek so book ahead, and a few of the pricier sharing dishes have felt thin for the money. Service is friendly but tables can go a while unchecked.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
