A small, family-run Italian in the heart of York where the welcome does a lot of the work — the owners are happy to talk you through the menu, patient with allergies, and quick to bring food out, which matters when someone at the table has run out of patience. High chairs and a kids' menu are there, buggy access is fine, and a few outdoor tables help on a warm day, but it's a genuinely little room and always busy, so book ahead (people have sorted it over WhatsApp). Portions are generous — the garlic bread alone feeds two — and the pasta and pizza get the loudest praise, along with the tiramisu and profiteroles. Prices are gentler than you'd expect for the quality. One snag: the lighting is bright rather than cosy, and the specials board changes, so ask.
