Yates Southampton
A lively Southampton chain pub serving classic pub food, with outdoor seating and regular promotions at a mid-range price.

Mandarin · Southampton
Southampton has plenty of Chinese restaurants, but this one is where local families actually eat — always a good sign. It's clean, roomy and buzzy, so a pram and a bit of toddler noise won't feel out of place, and there are high chairs, a kids' menu and step-free access. Food arrives fast and hot, which matters when someone's hungry now, and portions are generous enough that staff will happily box up leftovers. The classic tick-sheet dim sum menu is huge and fairly priced: har gau with fresh, thin-skinned prawns, Shanghai pork dumplings, char siu, and steamed custard buns for pudding. The vegetarian side is properly good too. Staff are attentive, topping up the jasmine tea without being asked. It's popular and lively rather than quiet, and the odd dish can be hit-and-miss — but the duck, aromatic or Peking, rarely disappoints.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
