Tucked down an alley off Battle's high street in Old Ladies Court, this is a genuinely small, intimate spot — cosy inside, with a handful of outdoor tables that stay busy through the day, so it's worth timing your visit or being ready to sit outside in the shade. The kitchen is tiny but the team has seated and cooked for a party of seven without fuss, and they're happy to tweak dishes for fussier eaters. There's a kids' menu, high chairs and a warm, chatty welcome that isn't intrusive. Pancakes, the mushroom, egg and spinach muffin, the halloumi bagel and a properly non-greasy big breakfast all get raved about, portions are generous and prices fair. Bring the dog too — the Wall of Woofs is a real hit with children. Space is the main snag: it's little, so prams need parking outside.
