A drive out to the head of Loch Fyne rewards you with one of the loveliest lunch settings in Argyll — free parking, picnic benches outside with a view over the water, and a shop next door stuffed with fresh fish, veg, wine and sweets to keep a restless child occupied. Inside is calm and roomy, with high chairs, a kids' menu and step-free access for a pram. The staff are warm and unhurried; families arriving late in the afternoon report never being rushed. The oysters and langoustines are the draw, though the fish and chips (and its tartare sauce) gets just as much love, and there's plenty here for non-seafood eaters. It isn't cheap — oysters are around £4 each — and it's a popular spot, so book if you can. Takeaway and a bench outside is a good plan with little ones.
