Cafés · Christchurch
A play café first and a café second, this one sits above a gift shop in the centre of town — worth the walk up the stairs. The play area is the draw: wooden toys, themed little role-play shops, and equipment kept meticulously clean, with enough variety that a one-year-old and a four-year-old can both find something. The seating is spacious, so prams and buggies aren't a squeeze, and the coffee list runs long (there's a whole page of syrups). Toasties are fresh, the cakes and proper pot of tea are reasonably priced, and there are vegan and dairy-free options — the team are good about allergies. Sessions are booked online, so check before you turn up. Saxon Square car park is right next door.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
