Cafés · Tavistock
A play café that solves the exact problem that starts the moment your baby learns to crawl — somewhere you can drink a coffee while it's still hot and not brace for your toddler bothering the next table. Three tiers of play cover babies through toddlers: wooden toys, dress-up and role play, a small climbing frame and ball pit, and a big indoor sandpit that most children head straight for. The baby area is enclosed and safe enough to put a 7-month-old down in. Cakes change regularly, with gluten-free and vegan options, and the toilets and baby changing are noticeably clean. Sessions run around two hours, and food can be slow — order as soon as you arrive. Parking nearby is the weak point, and at ££ it's more of a weekly treat than a drop-in. One parent calls it "our new favourite place".

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
