The Butcher
A casual mid-range hamburger restaurant in Manchester, an easy spot for a simple family bite while you're out and about.

Ice cream shop · Manchester
Tucked into the middle of the Arndale, this is an easy stop when everyone needs a sit-down and something sweet. The draw is the ice cream — an unusual, colourful line-up like mango mochi, lychee berry and Korean banana with sesame — and the staff are genuinely good with indecisive children, happy to talk you through flavours and sometimes offer a taste before you commit. There's a fair amount of seating and a kids' menu and high chairs, though at peak shopping hours tables go fast, so a weekday afternoon is calmer. Bingsu is worth ordering to share between two or three. Prices sting a little at around £4.50 a scoop, and the sweeter milk teas divide opinion, but the taro latte and Thai tea have their loyal fans. Chilled music makes it feel surprisingly unhurried for a shopping centre.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
