The Lion Hotel
A market square hotel in Stafford with en suite rooms, a gastropub menu, and a function floor for family gatherings.

Cafés · Stafford
Tucked into Stafford's cheaper end of the price scale, this little café has a bright conservatory at the back that makes it easier to park a pram without blocking anyone, and free parking outside is one less thing to juggle. Everything's made fresh — the breakfasts get the loudest praise, along with garlic mushrooms on toast, the cheese and potato pie, and a cake counter people regret being too full for. There are high chairs, a kids' menu and clean baby changing, and the team are genuinely amenable, happily doing breakfast dishes at lunchtime when asked. Locals get greeted by name and the specials roll down on brown paper. Two snags worth knowing: it's cash only, and portions of the lunch menu sit a little pricey for what they are. One visitor noted children in twice while they ate and "weren't at all bothersome".

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
