Portions are enormous — the battered haddock comes crisp outside, juicy inside, with hand-cut chips fried in beef dripping, and grown-ups can order mac and cheese, haggis spring rolls or Irn-Bru chicken wings alongside. There's gluten-free fish and chips and vegan options too, which is rarer here than it should be. Food arrives quickly and the team are warm with walk-ins, though the chips can come under-seasoned and it's a busy tourist spot, so expect a lively room rather than a quiet one. Sticky toffee pudding is worth staying for.
