Cafés · Maidenhead
Come for a coffee and a slice of cake by the water, and you get a lake view with wildlife on it — the sort of setting that buys you twenty extra minutes of everyone sitting still. Breakfast is the thing people go back for, well cooked with good ingredients, and there's proper tea and a nut cake that isn't sickly sweet. Staff are cheery and genuinely accommodating; one family with a nut allergy had a porridge reworked without any fuss. There's a kids' menu, high chairs, outdoor tables and free parking, though the lane in from the main road is narrow and easy to miss. The honest snag: sunny weekends get very busy, food can take a while, and outside tables go fast — book or come early.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
