What you get in return is proper Italian cooking: you pick your pasta shape and your sauce, which children find quietly thrilling, and the gluten-free bases are made fresh rather than bought in, garlic bread included. Mussels, lobster pasta and a traditional tiramisu all come in for particular praise, and portions are generous enough to share a dessert. Staff are friendly and attentive, high chairs and a kids' menu are there, and free parking saves the usual faff. Two caveats: the menu can shrink to pizza or pasta when there are no specials, and the takeaway slices out front are pricey and nothing like the sit-down food.
