Pub · Sheffield
Sheffield's real-ale devotees have made this little back-street pub famous, and with a kids' menu, high chairs and free parking it's an easier proposition with children than its reputation suggests. Ten or more cask beers sit on the handpumps, alongside pork pies and sausage rolls that get singled out again and again — the pork pie in particular. The bar itself gets packed, but the back room stays quieter, and the secluded beer garden (partly covered) is where you'll want to be with a pram — there's buggy access, and outdoor tables give small children room to fidget. No music, no TVs, just conversation and friendly service from behind the bar. Two honest snags: seats can be genuinely hard to come by at busy times, and one visitor notes it can feel chilly indoors. Prices are fair, if a touch above cheap.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
