A pop-up under canvas in St Michael's Park, this one is more of an outing than a standard meal out — which happens to suit children, since there's space around the long tables, outdoor seating and free parking rather than a hunt for a spot. The atmosphere is relaxed and unhurried, and the team are warm without hovering; one family arrived for brunch with a small child and called it a hidden gem. Food is the draw: Thai dishes people order twice, cakes and brunches from the kiosk, and a Sunday roast with crunchy potatoes and enormous Yorkshire puddings. Worth knowing that roast is four courses at around £40 a head, so it's a treat rather than a casual stop, and the odd dish can miss. High chairs and a kids' menu are available, and no dogs in the park.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
