La Famiglia
Big-portion Italian with a kids' menu, high chairs, free parking and fast, friendly service — quieter earlier in the evening.

Indian takeaway · Newcastle upon Tyne
A West End staple that works as well for a sit-down family dinner as it does for a Saturday takeaway, with free parking outside so you're not circling with a tired toddler in the back. Inside it's warm and relaxed rather than hushed, and the staff have a real reputation for kindness — holding doors, talking families through the menu, and on one late night the owner personally driving an order out because the drivers had gone home. There's a kids' menu, high chairs and vegan dishes, and portions are generous with plenty of meat in the curries. The mangsho pesta ke shadi and chicken naga korai get ordered again and again; the banquet is good value for a bigger table. It's BYO for alcohol, with a decent soft drinks list. Not everything lands — the munch box and mixed grill draw grumbles — so stick to the curries.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
