Cosy without being cramped — a midsize dining room where a buggy can get in and there's space to settle, and the kitchen turns out proper Italian rather than chain fare. Portions are generous enough that a three-course set is often too much for one person, so sharing with a child works well; the arancini with tomato and parmigiano and the salmon with artichokes both get praise, and the kitchen will happily build a custom pizza with a child's favourite toppings. The team have a real soft spot for celebrations — decorations, a surprise cake, a warm welcome for a birthday. Two honest snags: when it's busy the floor can be thinly staffed, so drinks and food take a while, and drinks are dear (a large Coke runs to £8) with a service charge on top. Worth booking at weekends.
