Down a single-track road on the shore of Loch Fyne, this is a proper destination meal rather than a quick bite — and worth the drive if your children are up for something slower. The dining room is calm and minimalist, with well-spaced bare tables, candles and sheepskin-draped seats, plus outdoor seating and views over the water while the light fades. Free parking and buggy access make arriving easy; there are high chairs and a kids' menu. Nearly everything comes from close by — seafood landed that morning, greens from the garden or foraged — and the mutton, the rye risotto and the plum dessert draw particular praise. Staff are attentive and happy to explain dishes. Lunch is the more relaxed option; dinner's tasting menu is a long, pricey sit. Book ahead, and expect a 90-minute drive from Glasgow.
