From the road it looks like an ordinary country pub opposite the garden centre, but step through the low door and it's warm, busy and much bigger than expected — with a large garden and outdoor seating that comes into its own on a sunny day. Families rate the pizzas (the garlicky Milano gets particular love), the calamari, the seabass, and Sunday roasts with cauliflower cheese and proper Yorkshires; portions are generous enough that a box for leftovers is worth asking about. There's a kids' menu, high chairs, buggy access and vegan and gluten-free options, plus free parking, though the car park fills up. Staff are attentive without hovering. It gets genuinely packed at lunchtime, which can slow service, so book ahead — one parent was "grateful we did".

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
