A proper old country pub feel, and one that doesn't draw a rowdy crowd — good news if you want to actually hear your children over lunch. There are high chairs, a kids' menu and several separate seating areas, so you can tuck a pram somewhere out of the way, plus outdoor tables and free parking that families consistently praise. It's a Greene King, so the menu is familiar, but it's cooked well: the Sunday roast draws real enthusiasm, and the fish and chips, apple crumble and brownie sundae come up again and again. Staff are attentive without hovering — checking in mid-meal, happy to swap a plate that isn't right. Not every visit lands identically, and Sundays are worth booking, but for a relaxed family meal it's a dependable one.
