Coming in with a pram is straightforward here, and there's free parking, which takes one worry off the table before you've even sat down. The room is bright, roomy and well cared for — staff have been known to shift chairs and tables around to make space for what a group needs, and children get a genuinely warm welcome rather than a tolerated one. High chairs, a kids' menu and vegan options are all sorted. Food comes out fresh and piping hot in generous portions, and the kitchen will happily tone dishes down or leave the coriander on the side. The pickle tray, the curries and the garlic naan get the most praise. One family turned up on a Thursday teatime without booking and were seated straight away. Prices sit a little above nearby places, and a few have found the biryani rice not quite what they expected.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
