Worth the drive out for a farm-shop breakfast where the kids have somewhere to go afterwards. Build-your-own breakfasts and the Crofters get steady praise, the cake counter is a real event, and there's homemade lemon cheesecake and fruit scones to take home. Space is generous — a conservatory, decked area and plenty of outdoor tables — so a pram isn't a problem, with high chairs, a kids' menu, vegan options and free parking. Outside there's a small park, a big field and donkeys in the paddock; the indoor soft play is fairly limited and might hold a toddler's attention for an hour. It gets genuinely busy, and while the younger staff are warm and quick, families do occasionally meet a brisker welcome at the counter first thing.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
