Tucked away in the village of St Mawgan, this is the kind of small café parents will happily drive half an hour for. Breakfasts come with free-range eggs and local sausages, the scones arrive with generous cream and jam, and the coffee has a following of its own. Portions are big and clearly homemade, and prices stay sensible for what lands on the plate. The team are funny and genuinely warm with children rather than merely tolerant, and dogs are welcome too — one family calls it "a hidden gem". There's a kids' menu, high chairs and room to get a pram in, plus takeaway lunches neatly packed into card boxes if the park is calling. Parking is free in the large car park in the road behind, though it's worth avoiding school pick-up time.
