Jood Restaurant
Bright, cosy Deansgate spot with generous platters, a kids' menu, high chairs and halal options — self-seating, so expect to find your own table.

Turkish · Manchester
Deansgate isn't usually where you'd go for a cheap family lunch, but this Turkish and Middle Eastern spot (now on John Dalton Street) does a chicken wrap, fries, salad and a drink for under a tenner, which changes the maths considerably. Because they prep properly, food comes out fast — genuinely useful when someone's hit the wall. There's a kids' menu, high chairs, outdoor seating and room to get a pram in, though it's a small shop and it does get packed at dinner. The chicken gyros is what people come back for, alongside a proper Turkish breakfast, generous portions and very good pastries and cookies. Staff are friendly and happy to answer questions. Not every dish lands equally — the chicken rice bowl has its detractors — but one visitor calls the gyros "the real deal".
