Sitting out by the water here is half the appeal — tables overlook the marina, and there's a soft play indoors for when little ones have run out of patience with sitting still. The carvery is what people come back for, monthly in some cases: properly cooked beef and gammon, a good spread of vegetables, Yorkshire puddings that get specifically praised. Portions are generous and prices genuinely low — one family did six breakfasts and six drinks for around £52. There's plenty of room inside, so prams and walkers aren't a problem, and the staff are patient with fussy eaters and happy to carry plates over. Free parking, high chairs, a kids' menu, and notably clean toilets. Weekend breakfasts can be booked, though several families found they didn't need to.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
