Pub · Manchester
A proper old Manchester boozer, Grade II-listed and barely touched since 1925 — mottled tiles out front, three little rooms around the bar, and a piano that sometimes gets a singalong going on a quiet afternoon. There's a kids' menu and high chairs, and the layout does mean small rooms rather than one big open space, so a pram is easier if you come outside the rush. Food comes out quickly and the slow-cooked lamb shank and steak and ale pie both get real praise; sausage rolls sit on the bar for a fast snack. Prices are gentle for the city centre and the team are genuinely warm — one visitor calls the atmosphere "very nice and calming". Worth knowing it fills up fast on match days at the Etihad, when it's loud and standing-room only.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
