Right across from the little Bobby statue, this is a proper old traditional pub — the building was once a candle-making workshop — and it splits neatly for families: the dining area on the left takes children, while the bar side is adults only. There are high chairs, a kids' menu and buggy access, though inside is genuinely tight and seating is limited, so arriving just ahead of the lunch or dinner rush makes a real difference. A corner table cuts the noise nicely. Food comes out quickly even when they're heaving: the haggis, neeps and tatties gets the loudest praise, along with the steak and ale pie, the award-winning beef pie and properly good fish and chips with real chips. Portions are generous and prices fair. There's no snack menu, so it's full meals only.
