Tucked away in a quiet spot outside Bridgwater, this family-run barn conversion has become the sort of place people are almost reluctant to tell others about. The setting does a lot of the work with children — big gardens to spill out into on a warm day, horses in the field next door to point at from the table, and a couple of friendly cats that hang about the free car park. Buggy access is easy, there are high chairs and a kids' menu, and the team are genuinely warm hosts. The Sunday roasts are the thing here, beef and lamb especially, with portions plentiful enough that dessert becomes optional. Two honest notes: everything is cooked fresh to order so food can take a while, and it's popular enough that booking ahead is essential.
