Slug & Lettuce - The Friary Cardiff
Lively city-centre bar-restaurant with kids' menu, high chairs and buggy access — warm staff, quick food, but a loud weekend crowd.

Restaurant · Cardiff
Attached to the Hilton in the city centre, this is a hotel restaurant that copes well with a pram and a high chair — the room is roomy rather than cramped, and the kids' menu means you're not negotiating over a grown-up plate. Breakfast is the easy win with children: cooked options, pastries and hash browns that get a lot of love, and staff who are polite and quick to help. Later in the day the gourmet burger, the sweet potato tart and the lobster club all draw genuine praise, and the afternoon tea is a pretty thing to sit over. Two honest caveats: prices lean towards hotel guests rather than a casual family lunch, and when the team is short-staffed service can be slow — steaks in particular don't always come back as ordered. Worth timing around hungry children.
