Tucked into the Golden Valley just outside Bristol, this is the kind of stop where a restless three-year-old happily runs out of steam before the food arrives. Ponies, donkeys, goats, sheep, hens and a peacock live on site, and the grounds are big enough for a proper wander with a pram — one family's granddaughter simply "didn't want to leave". Breakfast comes out fast and lands well: the full English with the butcher's sausages, pancakes with blueberries, poached eggs and avocado on toast. There's a farm shop and ice cream parlour next door, free parking, high chairs and a kids' menu, and a sunny terrace that catches the morning light. Prices sit a fraction above what you might expect, and one visitor was unhappy with the animals' enclosures on a hot day. Afternoon teas need pre-ordering; dogs on leads are welcome.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
