Beetroot Bar & Grill
Cosy Bonnyrigg grill with big portions, famous burgers and sticky toffee pudding — kids' menu, high chairs and free parking.

Restaurants · Bonnyrigg
Bonnyrigg hides a proper Italian sit-down behind a plain frontage — families travel for this one, and the booths are the bit that makes it work with children: contained, a little private, and there are several distinct spaces so you can ask for somewhere quieter if you've got a wobbly toddler. Buggy access, high chairs and a kids' menu are all sorted, and the team are genuinely warm rather than politely tolerant. Portions are huge, so two children can happily share; the lasagne, the focaccia and the truffle and parmesan fries get talked about most. It's a touch pricier than a chain, and although there's free parking it fills fast — one family spent ten minutes circling side streets, then walked five minutes in. Leave extra time, and book at weekends.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
