Steak house · Birmingham
A steakhouse this polished isn't the obvious choice with children in tow, but there's a kids' menu, high chairs and enough room to get a buggy in, and the staff are the reason it works — attentive without hovering, happy to explain the menu, and quick to fix a dish that isn't right without any fuss. The steak is the draw: rump and fillet cooked properly to order, big portions, with the burrata, scallops and battered prawns worth ordering alongside. Some evenings there are musicians playing acoustic covers, which keeps the room calm rather than loud. It is expensive, though the £20 three-course theatre menu is a genuinely good way in, and tables for two can feel snug — worth booking and asking for the space you need.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
