Tucked away in Iffley Village inside a hotel, this is a calm spot for dinner with children — roomy enough for a pram, quiet enough to hear each other, and the team are attentive and genuinely happy to take feedback rather than bristle at it. There's a kids' menu, high chairs and outdoor seating when the weather plays along. The cooking is a bit up and down: the Hawkwell Burger is superb, the sautéed king prawns in garlic chilli butter are the pick of the starters, and the pizza kept one family's son thoroughly happy, but a few dishes arrive under-seasoned and the sirloin can be tough. Save room — the apple tarte tatin and treacle tart are the real triumphs, and the mocktails go down well with children. Good value by Oxford standards, and it's a 10–15 minute bus ride from the centre.
