Mediterranean · Bury Saint Edmunds
There's a warmth here that seems to survive the presence of small children — one family brought their daughter along to an anniversary dinner and found the place welcoming rather than stiff. The mezze plates are the sensible order with kids: lots of small things to share, arriving fast, so nobody has to sit and wait through a meltdown. Grilled lamb with bulgur and salad comes up again and again, portions are generous, and the meat is properly seasoned. There's a kids' menu, high chairs, plenty of vegan options and real willingness on gluten-free — the owners are known for going out of their way. It's a small, fairly intimate independent, so book at busy times and expect a calmer, more grown-up atmosphere than a chain. Service is quick; one family called it the fastest they'd had in Suffolk.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
