Miller & Carter Southampton
A relaxed Southampton steak pub with a kids' menu and outdoor seating — an easygoing pick for a family meal out.

Restaurant · Southampton
Down a narrow country lane on the edge of Southampton, this is the sort of pub that rewards the slow drive in — free parking when you arrive, a big garden with outdoor tables, and step-free access with a pram. Inside it's been refurbished without losing the beams and the fireplace, so it stays cosy on a cold day and roomy enough not to feel on top of other tables. There's a kids' menu and high chairs, and the staff are warm and unhurried with families. Food is proper hearty pub cooking — the sea bass gets particular praise, as do the Sunday-ish roasts and generous portions — and it's dog-friendly too. Two honest caveats: it's a little pricey for what it is, and service can run slow at busy times, so book ahead for evenings, weekends or bigger family groups.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
