Cafés · Durham
Tucked into a farm shop just outside Durham, this is the kind of place where a country walk starts or finishes, and the free parking plus buggy access makes that easy with a pram in tow. Inside it's clean, spacious and dog friendly, with room to spread out, high chairs, a kids' menu and outdoor seating when the weather plays along. The scones get genuine rapture — brie with onion chutney, crusty outside and soft in the middle — and the fry-up is generous, though one visitor found it pricey for what it is and service can be slow at busy moments. Staff are approachable and good with allergies, and there's usually something on: craft mornings, wine tastings, shelves of local produce to browse while children finish their juice. One parent calls it "fabulous, homely".

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
