Tucked just off the main road in the city centre, this is a small, old-school sandwich shop with a lively, chatty feel and a TV on in the corner — good for a quick refuel with children, less good for a peaceful chat, as the music can be genuinely loud. Be warned there are a couple of steep steps at the door, so you may need a hand lifting a pram in. Once you're settled, there are high chairs, a kids' menu and seating in a few different spots. The jacket potatoes get rave notices, as do the paninis, the Cajun chicken and the freshly made sandwiches; portions are large and it's cheap enough that breakfast and lunch can come to a fiver. Service stays quick even at busy lunchtime, and the owners are known for going out of their way to fit big groups in.
