There's no hot food to speak of here — snacks only, apart from a fish and chips that one visitor rated among the finest in the city — so think of it as a stop between things rather than lunch. What you get instead is a proper Irish pub: buggy access, high chairs and a kids' menu, cheap for what it is, and a beer garden that makes daytimes far easier with children than the back room ever could. Weekday afternoons are the window. Live Irish music sessions run regularly and the singing gets big, so evenings and Saturday nights are firmly grown-up territory. The bar staff are warm and unhurried, the Guinness is what people come for, and the Pete McKee room gives you something to look at. One regular calls it simply "a REAL pub" — cosy, a bit worn, all the better for it.
