A gaming café in the middle of Sheffield that works surprisingly well as a treat outing — the trick is allowing enough time, because eating and playing are separate things and the video games are paid by the hour (board games are free to pick up). The food is the part people don't expect: a big home-cooked menu with seasonal specials, milkshakes, cakes and a properly good homemade cookie, plenty of vegan and vegetarian choices, and big portions at fair prices. High chairs and a kids' menu are there, and the owners are warm and patient with novice players, happy to talk anyone through a console. It's cosy rather than roomy, and one parent notes orders can occasionally go astray. Consoles like the PS5 can be booked ahead — worth doing for a birthday.
