Tucked down a side street just off Nottingham's main shopping area, this small Ethiopian café is the sort of place you'd walk past without knowing. Inside it's cosy and warmly decorated, with an easy atmosphere and the kind of hosts who'll talk you through every dish if it's your family's first time with injera. Portions are enormous and reasonably priced — the vegetarian combination comes loaded with lentil stew, yellow peas, beetroot and collard greens, and they'll happily bring more injera. Takeaway boxes come out for whatever the children don't finish. There's a kids' menu, high chairs and plenty for vegans. Two honest snags: it's tiny, so book rather than turn up, and the toilet is down a steep flight of stairs, which rules out easy nappy changes. One family calls it a "total hidden gem".
