There's a rare kind of flexibility here that makes eating out with small children feel possible — one family booked early with a child in tow and were simply offered their pick of tables in the orangery, a glass-panelled space that's lovely to sit in when it's raining. The team engage properly with children rather than tolerating them; one child was coaxed out of her shell enough to order dessert herself. Portions are big and the cooking is genuinely good — the meatballs in rich tomato sauce, a faultless spaghetti carbonara, pistachio profiteroles when they're on. Vegans should ring ahead, as nothing is marked on the menu but the staff know what can be adapted and will build a pasta to order. Free street parking is usually findable, though not guaranteed.
