Step through the low doorway and you're in a proper old Cambridge pub — beams, low ceilings, walls covered in signatures and history, the sort of place children actually look around rather than fidget in. There's a kids' menu, high chairs, and a covered, heated beer garden, which is where most families end up: more room for a pram and easier on the ears. Food-wise, the fish and chips, onion rings and Korean chicken burger get good mentions, and there's a genuinely good mushroom chilli if you need a meat-free option. The staff are friendly and accommodating. Two honest snags: it gets rammed, especially evenings and weekends, so aim for daytime; and drinks are pricey with portions on the small side. One visitor found the crowds eased later on, but lunchtime is your safest bet with children.
