The Lifeboat Tavern
A well-loved Norwich pub with outdoor seating and a warm welcome for families, ideal for a laid-back drink together.

Cafés · Norwich
Time your visit — this is a get-there-before-1pm sort of place, because the cakes and pastries thin out fast and hot food stops at three, which isn't well signposted. Do that and you'll find a big open barn café near the beach with a sunny courtyard, free parking right outside, high chairs, a kids' menu and easy buggy access. The staff are consistently kind and quick, portions are generous, and the food is genuinely good — homemade soup, lovely soft bread, a crab salad, a brie, bacon and cranberry toastie, and a Belgian bun one visitor called "huge, but soft, fresh". Two honest snags: it's cold inside in winter (bring coats), and the toilets are outside in a portacabin-style block — clean, but basic. The ordering queue is cramped when busy, so weekday mornings are calmest.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
