Café · Hayle
A small, unassuming spot near the bus stop that punches well above its size — and word has got out, so there can be a queue by 9am and the seating, while comfortable, is a little tight for a family with a pram. Worth it, though. Breakfast is the reason to come: a full Cornish with proper juicy sausages, hog pudding and crispy hash browns, eggs poached or fried as you like, plus one of the finest vegan breakfasts in the county and southern fried chicken with waffles and hot honey. The coffee is genuinely good. Family-run, and the owners' pride shows in small things — the toilet is stocked with pads and deodorant. Staff stay friendly even when slammed, though drinks can lag behind the food at the busiest hours. Kids' menu, high chairs, outdoor tables, free parking and dogs welcome.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
