Worth the drive out through the Welsh countryside for this one — the food is the draw, and it's cheap. Breakfasts get the loudest praise: properly runny eggs, meaty sausages, a good size plate, and one cyclist reckoned breakfast plus three mugs of tea came to £12. Soup of the day and sandwiches made fresh to order are the other safe bets, eaten looking out over the fishpond. There's a kids' menu, high chairs, outdoor seating, level buggy access and free parking, and there's a little gift corner with plants and soaps to distract a restless child. Two warnings worth heeding: it gets genuinely busy and popular dishes — the Sunday roast especially — sell out well before closing, so ring ahead. Service can be hit and miss on a hectic day.
