A proper Suffolk pub a short walk from the sea, with a large garden that has plenty of shade — the kind of spot where children can potter about while lunch arrives and nobody minds the noise. The staff are genuinely warm and unflappable: they'll adjust dishes for fussy eaters, find a table at short notice, and there's a children's and smaller-plates menu alongside high chairs, vegan options and free parking. Portions are big and the cooking is a cut above pub standard — homemade soup, catch of the day, mac and cheese, pork ribs, a lemon cheesecake worth ordering two of. Buggy access is fine and there's room to park one. The Sunday roast is usually the draw, though the beef can occasionally arrive less pink than regulars expect. Cosy by the fire in winter, garden in summer.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
