About Dishoom Edinburgh

Big, buzzy and surprisingly easy with children in tow — buggy access, high chairs and a kids' menu mean you're not fighting the room to get settled. Food arrives generously portioned, and the staff know the menu inside out, offering recommendations and a long list of virgin drinks that keeps everyone happy. The butter chicken and naan get the loudest praise; the keema, lamb biryani and crispy okra fries all have their fans, and the chocolate pudding is worth saving room for. Breakfast naan wraps, with sausage, bacon, egg and masala beans, are a solid morning option. The whole menu is halal, with vegan choices too, and there's outdoor seating. Worth knowing: it's popular enough that you may wait without a booking, though the bar area is a comfortable spot to sit it out. One parent called it simply "an experience".
