Breakfast is the reason to come here, and it's the sort of place where a big family group can walk in on a Saturday morning and get a table without a fuss. Parathas arrive crisp and enormous — plenty of people can't finish one and take half home — and the desi omelettes, especially the spicy chicken one, have a real following, as does the sweet lassi, which comes in a generous glass. It's warm and unfussy rather than smart, with high chairs, buggy access, a kids' menu and halal and vegan choices, and the owners tend to steer you towards what's good that morning. Free parking, and London Road is easy in the mornings. Not everything lands — the chana and halwa can disappoint, and freshness wobbles — but the service is quick and genuinely kind, one parent noting the team carried an order out to the car so an anxious child didn't have to come in.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
