Sheringham without fish and chips barely counts, and this cheerful chippy is where a lot of families end up — often on the recommendation of someone local. Portions are enormous; the regular cod is plenty for most people, and more than one parent has admitted defeat on the large. Batter comes out light and crispy, food arrives fast even when it's busy, which matters when someone small is unravelling at the table. Staff are warm and unflustered, and chips are fried separately, so gluten- and fish-free plates are possible. High chairs, a kids' menu, outdoor seats and buggy access are all there. Two snags: it's cash only, and by early evening in season the restaurant fills within half an hour, so come early or expect a wait. Quality has wobbled occasionally, but most leave very happy.
