Cafe Sunrise (Arabic cafe & Food in Cathays)
A warm little Cathays café famed for its liver sandwich and karak chai, with a kids' menu, high chairs and takeaway.

Sri Lankan · Cardiff
Cardiff's Sri Lankan and South Indian corner, and a genuinely easy one with children in tow — there's a kids' menu, high chairs, and free parking, which takes the sting out of a weeknight dinner. Food arrives fast, which matters when someone's patience is running out, and the staff keep checking in without hovering. The kothu is the thing to order — egg, vegetarian, or the dolphin kothu rotti — alongside polos curry, pittu with kadalai curry, or the chicken devil and biryani combo regulars swear by. The vanilla milkshake is properly good and will buy you ten quiet minutes. Portions are usually generous for the price, though consistency is the weak spot: some nights the flavour and portion sizes land, some nights they don't. Cosy rather than roomy, so a bulky pram may be a squeeze.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
