Cafés · Bishop Auckland
A working farm café where the animals are half the point — £4 each gets you into the paddocks with sheep, goats, alpacas, donkeys, pigs, wallabies and meerkats, plus £1 pots of feed, and an hour disappears easily between feeding and the play area. Inside there's indoor and outdoor seating, high chairs, a kids' menu and board games to keep small hands busy while food arrives, which it generally does quickly. Breakfast is the thing to order — crispy bacon, good sausage, eggs Benedict — and the cake counter takes proper deliberating over. Parking is free and plentiful. Two honest notes: dogs are welcome throughout, which not everyone wants near their lunch, and the outdoor play area can turn muddy and closed off after wet weather.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
